A printer is an output device which prints paper documents. These include text documents, images, or a combination of both. Printers work by converting digital images and text into physical copies.

There are many types of printers. They are the classic toner-based printers, thermal printers, impact printers, daisy wheel printers, dot matrix printers, laser printers, inkjet printers, 3D printers, etc. The types of printers can also be classified based on its connectivity provisions such as the wired printers and wireless printers.

A typical printer has some basic parts in order to carry out the printing process. Those parts are paper support, sheet feeder, printer cover, output tray, output tray extension, connectors, edge guides, control buttons, cartridge cover, and print head.

Printers are used for creating various forms of hard copies on the physical materials. They allow the users to save efforts from recreating the data present in the computer onto the paper.
